The SAR9 is arguably one of the most rigorously tested pistols ever created. It endured extreme environmental testing, from 130-degree heat simulating desert conditions to -50-degree arctic temperatures, as well as salt fog, high altitude, simulated rain, solar radiation, and extensive fouling tests. Beyond these environmental challenges, the SAR9 underwent rigorous live-fire testing, exceeding 150,000 rounds at the factory, followed by an additional 50,000 rounds by police, and finally, a 90,000-round NATO test against leading manufacturers from Austria, Germany, and the U.S., where the SAR9 emerged as the clear winner.
